Because VIZ replaced the entire background music track. Yes, even in the original Japanese version. It is very noticeable, and in a bad way.

It is one of the reasons we will never get a new Macross stateside. The music and anime are separate licenses. :(

No. The Macross franchise has had many years of ongoing court cases in Japan to gain control of the franchise. Also, Harmony Gold owns a trademark to "Macross" in the United States.

I would have to say. I have compared the fansub version to the one on the store shelves. Anime Keep is better.
