Madison has an anime figure store

Postby tony-kun on Mon Oct 28, 2013 5:13 pm

Since you guys do Madison trips semi-regularly, I thought this might be of interest.

This weekend Grasscola and I went to 'Geekplastiq', a new shop on the west side of Madison that sells anime & game merchandise and other nerd-related stuff. The shop is kind of small, but they did have a number of figures, ranging from the cheap trading arts blind packs to the $60+ 1/8 PVC types. I ended up buying a couple Persona 4 figures, and the prices seemed pretty fair to me.

Website is here: http://www.geekplastiq.com

I am skeptical about whether this type of shop can stay open long in Madison, so it may be worth checking out sooner rather than later.

Looked at the figmas on their website, and its strange to see the Black Rock Shooter Beast figure sold WITHOUT the book it was originally sold with. So they wanted the book but didn't want the figure? I don't know, seems kinda weird to me

Seems like other people are selling it like that on Amazon.

This figma was originally only available when you purchased the limited edition of huke's first art book, BLK. Now it is yours to enjoy by itself! The figma comes with multiple expressions, as well as the BRS Blade and Seven Shot that are featured in his latest illustration - all finely detailed to be as close to the original illustration as possible. Add BRSB to your collection today! **Art book is not included.

They are charging $200 for it, though.

You don't buy figures for the plot.

It seems like a lot of people probably picked it up used/pre-owned. At stores like Mandarake, they'll have just the figure without anything else. I got that figure and book brand new for $60, though. Cheapest price on Amazon Japan is about $90

Have to see where and when my family christmas party is this year. If I'm lucky it'll be in Madison area, as most of my mother's relatives live there.

Don't buy used anime figures, they could be coated in secret semen.

Given the number of SOF videos out there, probably true.
